PASSAGE DU GOIS
Road crossing the sea and passable at low tide, the passage of Gois connects the island of Noirmoutier to the mainland for about 4.5 km.
Favorite spot of the fishing on foot, theater of the great race “The strides of Gois”, this submersible way remains very borrowed by the inhabitants of the surroundings despite the construction of the bridge.
A must for anyone staying in Vendée!
To undertake the crossing of the passage of Gois on foot, by bike or by car is not without danger. Also, you will have to respect the schedules of the low tides.
Rest assured, if you are trapped by the rising waters, some “perches” are distributed throughout the passage. You will only have to wait for the withdrawal of the sea and enjoy the landscape …
Fishing on foot
During the high tides, the passage of Gois sees flocking hundreds of fishermen on foot. Solo or with your family, come and indulge in the joys of shellfish fishing: clams, cockles or oysters will fill your basket.
The strides of Gois: a race against the sea!
Every year, The strides of Gois bring together thousands of runners in a popular and colorful atmosphere.
